About the Role

Based at the reception desk of the Student Engagement Unit (SEU) at Magill campus, the Administration Officer is integral to the provision of frontline service to students who engage with the support services offered by the SEU and providing comprehensive administrative services to SEU staff across the Unit.

The Student Engagement Unit (SEU) is responsible for the strategic development and delivery of student facing services that will enhance the on-campus and off-campus student experience for all students. The SEU also takes strategic steps to inform the quality of the student experience of learning and teaching, support services, the learning environment, and student facilities.

SEU services include Orientation, UniSA Sport, Career Services, Student Life, Student Counselling, International Student Support, Academic Learning Support, Wirringka Student Services and support for Aboriginal students, and Access and Inclusion Services.

Core Responsibilities

  • Receive face to face and telephone enquiries from students, staff and members of the public. Provide information and advice on the full range of SEU services, ensuring that appropriate confidentiality is maintained at all times
  • Provide administrative support to teams across the SEU including appointment administration, room bookings, maintenance and porterage requests, word processing, data entry, ordering supplies and equipment, mail management, and filing
  • As part of the Office of the Director team, contribute administrative support to SEU portfolios, Unit reporting and Unit projects
  • Contribute to a culture of customer service and continuous improvement and participate in the development and implementation of administrative quality improvement initiatives including developing and maintaining processes and procedures to facilitate the provision of high-level support and services to students and staff that is consistent across the Unit
  • Provide executive support for SEU meetings including the co-ordination and distribution of meeting papers, agendas and minute taking

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Completion of a diploma level qualification in administration or a related field plus relevant work-related experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and customer service skills enabling appropriate responses to enquiries from students, staff and external parties from a range of cultural backgrounds and communication styles
  • Highly developed organisational and office administration skills, including the ability to develop and maintain administrative systems for a broad range of customer-based administration
  • Demonstrated tact, empathy and an understanding of pressures faced by students in higher education and a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Highly developed computer skills in computer information systems, the Microsoft Office suite of applications, email and using the Internet
