  • Commencement Salary: $67,739 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

About the Role


We are seeking a professional Administration Officer who has demonstrated their ability to undertake administrative and personal assistant support services. The successful applicant will be responsible for the provision of these support functions to the Academic Unit’s Professor in Cancer Nursing / Director: Rosemary Bryant AO Research Centre. Additionally, at the direction of the Manager, you will also support the research activities of other members of the Academic Unit’s Professorial group by providing general administrative support when required.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain diary appointments for delegated Professorial staff, and coordinate travel arrangements as required, ensure scheduled appointments are anticipated and confirmed, meeting papers are prepared, meeting rooms are booked, and visitors are welcomed appropriately 
  • Act as first point of contact for delegated Professorial staff with regards to incoming communication and respond to internal and external enquiries and requests using judgement to independently assess, prioritise and direct responses and actions 
  • Prepare documentation as required, including typing for and production of high-quality documents suitable for circulation to internal and external professionals, including research grant applications, ethics proposals, reports, and presentations 
  • Monitor expenditure and revenue for each of the relevant cost centres including the reconciliation of credit card expenses and liaise with the Academic Unit and Central Finance staff regarding invoicing and the preparation of budgets for research projects 
  • Prepare, format and design graphs, reports, tables, figures, posters, brochures, and presentations using Microsoft Office and other suitable desktop publishing packages


Essential Skills and Experience 

  • Experience working as a personal assistant to a senior member of staff and experience providing administrative support to a team 
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills including experience in the provision of quality customer service to a range of internal and external stakeholders 
  • Organisational skills and high-level attention to detail suited to managing information flow, meeting deadlines, prioritising competing demands and using appropriate initiative 
  • Proven commitment to continuous improvement including the regular review of work procedures and continuous maintenance and development of knowledge and skills
