About the Sydney Quantum Academy

The Sydney Quantum Academy is a joint venture between The University of Sydney, The University of New South Wales, Macquarie University and University of Technology Sydney, to establish Sydney (and Australia) as a global destination for talent, investment, and innovation in relation to quantum technology and the future quantum economy. Collaborating with academia, industry and government, SQA will harness Sydney’s collective quantum expertise to develop diverse talent and a globally recognised quantum ecosystem.

About the opportunity

As the Administration & Diversity Officer, you will play a key role supporting the Sydney Quantum Academy with administrative tasks and diversity initiatives , designed to increase the number of underrepresented people in SQA education programs at all levels and ensure that SQA events and activities are accessible to all. You will also utilise your administrative experience to provide general support to the SQA team as well as advise on policy and procedure to ensure the successful delivery of SQA objectives.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • work within a dynamic team, reporting to the Executive Officer for the SQA

  • proactively coordinate and provide support to the SQA executive team to deliver diversity initiatives

  • conduct research and provide advice about the engagement and inclusion of diverse and under-represented students in SQA programs

  • support the development and preparation of grants and partnerships for programs that engage and attract underrepresented students to SQA

  • support the SQA Marketing, Communications, and Events team to deliver events, including facilitating accommodations at events and meetings to make SQA events accessible for all people

  • provide high level administrative support for SQA including drafting correspondence, supporting meetings and committees, collecting data and other administrative tasks

  • develop a general understanding of administration across the SQA to backfill and support other roles when required.

About you

  • tertiary qualifications and/or relevant work experience in a related field

  • a strong motivation and passion to support diverse and under-represented groups

  • administrative experience in a tertiary organisation with a working knowledge of academic institutions, structures, and the higher education sector

  • excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in handling a wide range of enquiries and providing excellent customer service

  • ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work

  • demonstrated ability to utilise MS Office, and experience in content management and Canva are desirable

  • demonstrated experience in coordinating or delivering initiatives that support equity, diversity, and inclusion will be well-regarded.
