About the opportunity

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences offers one of the most comprehensive and diverse ranges of humanities and social science studies in the Asia Pacific region and is regularly ranked in the top 20 Arts faculties in the world. The School of Languages and Cultures (SLC) offers the widest range of undergraduate and postgraduate language studies in Australia and is a Centre for European, Latin American, Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. 
 

The School is seeking to appoint an Administration and Communications Coordinator to oversee general administrative support provided by the administration team and coordinates communications and engagement. This includes creating and implementing a communications plan, preparing documents, responding to complex queries, sourcing solutions, as well as coordinating programs and events.

The successful candidate will be required to provide guidance and support to more junior staff, utilising their extensive administrative experience and judgement, helping to analyse matters and provide advice on policy and procedures for the delivery of work outcomes.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • coordinate general administrative services and operational support
  • create and manage the School’s communication plan
  • coordinate and manage the School’s local and international engagement programs, including scholarships  
  • develop and maintain professional relationships with School’s academic and administrative staff, as well as other internal stakeholders
  • organise the delivery of School events including Open Day, Info Day, Awards Ceremony and other academic and alumni related events.

About you

  • ability to facilitate and coordinate complex projects
  • experience in marketing and communications
  • demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills
  • excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating
  • strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiatives
  • working knowledge of software programs including MS Suite.
