Research and Revenue Accounting Services (R&R) provides financial services to researchers and project managers by supporting project costing and providing financial advice across the duration of projects. We also assist in managing grant and contract revenues.

If you are excited about being part of a world-class finance business partnering team, providing exceptional, professional service to some of the world’s leading researchers, are proactive and have a solution-focused attitude, then we would welcome your expression of interest.

The Opportunity

The Accounting Officer provides high-quality, operational research finance business partnering support for the team and clients. This includes performing a range of financial transactions, inputting financial forecasts, interpreting research contracts, preparation of financial reports, data maintenance and analysis and sustaining effective working relationships with stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who enjoys working in an agile, fast-paced environment and able to triage a high volume of queries. The daily life of an Accounting Officer will look very different as you will be supporting different reporting deadlines, have ad-hoc financial tasks and ensure grant guidelines are adhered to through periodic compliance checks. This is a great entry role to learn more about the Higher Education sector and how research funding operates.

In performing these tasks, the Accounting Officer plays an important role in enabling the team to deliver its range of specialist services to clients. This includes having analytical skills, using your initiative and completing your own research to find solutions. This role will have a degree of autonomy and need to have previous experience interpreting data and translating this to non-financial stakeholders.

We are seeking someone that is proactive in their work, can be dynamic and open to an evolving workplace.

Experience using SAP or a similar financial system and a working knowledge of GST as applied to a research and revenue accounting function are desirable.
