About the Role

Working within the Student Engagement portfolio, the Access and Inclusion Advisor interprets and applies University policy and State and Commonwealth legislation to ensure UniSA students with disabilities, mental health, or chronic medical conditions are provided with the appropriate support to engage equitably in University study.

The role works directly with students to identify and assess the functional impact of individual students’ disability or health condition on their studies and make recommendations in relation to adaptive equipment, services and adjustments that will support the student to participate in their chosen program of study. The Access and Inclusion Advisor also provides high-level advice to academic staff in applying reasonable adjustments in the teaching and learning environment and contributes to university-wide projects related to equity and inclusive practice.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who possesses extensive experience working with people who live with a disability, mental health, or chronic medical condition along with high-level skills in assessing the impact of such conditions in a range of contexts.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of disability discrimination legislation, standards and reasonable adjustments and how these apply to the higher education environment. They will thrive in a high-volume environment where they will be expected to exercise a high level of complex autonomous decision-making. The successful candidate will also have exceptional relationship-building skills, along with a proven ability to influence positive change across a diverse range of stakeholders.
