Do you have a strong background in leadership and management within the ELICOS industry and have experience leading teams to success?  CQUniversity is seeking an Academic Manager to work closely with the Director of Operations to provide educational leadership and ensure the day-to-day operations of the English Language Centre meets with relevant legislative and accreditation guidelines.

You will be responsible for managing the operations of the CQUEnglish Centre at your campus including the administration, orientation, student placement and graduation processes.  You will manage workloads, oversee enrolment and timetabling, and be well versed in the legislative and audit requirements required within the ELICOS industry.

You will be instrumental in ensuring best practice teaching, assessment, and administration is achieved to provide the optimum student learning experience.  You are a leader in the ELICOS field and will use your management and communication skills to provide quality academic guidance and support to students.  You will also be involved in designing, developing, and evaluating teaching materials/assessments and curricula for new and existing courses.

• A degree or diploma of at least three years full-time or equivalent (teaching or other).
• A minimum of two years’ experience in a managerial role.
• A suitable teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) qualification at diploma level or above.
• Up-to-date knowledge of significant developments in TESOL theory and practice.
• Experience in teaching a range of levels and in a range of contexts including English for Academic Purposes programs, with a demonstrated focus on quality teaching and commitment to continuous development of TESOL knowledge and skills.

• Ability to manage academic staff performance including teacher evaluations.
• Highly developed interpersonal and cross-cultural skills, excelling in written and oral communication, with an ability to negotiate and liaise with internal and external clients resulting in a high level of customer service.
• Demonstrated organisational and administrative skills and an ability to work independently or as part of a team, manage work, meet deadlines, and resolve problems with minimal supervision and guidance in a demanding work environment.
