The Faculty of Medicine at Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University Frankfurt am Main and the University Hospital Frankfurt invites applications for the following position as civil servant or as public employee starting at the earliest possible date:

Professorship (W3) for Didactics in Medicine and Clinical Simulation

The professorship is to represent the subject in research and teaching. Associated with this is the management of the newly founded Institute for Medical Didactics and Clinical Simulation, the management of the Interdisciplinary Simulation Center of the Faculty of Medicine (FIneST), the simulation patient program located there, and the Medical Didactics Office. Involvement in patient care is possible and desired on a small scale.

We are looking for a nationally and internationally scientifically recognized personality with high social competence and with comprehensive, long-standing expertise in the full range of research in medical teaching, as well as extensive expertise in the conception, implementation and scientific evaluation of innovative and interdisciplinary teaching and examination formats in medical studies.

The tasks of the professorship include the scientific support of the study programs at the Faculty of Medicine from curriculum development to teaching evaluation, the further development and establishment of interdisciplinary and interprofessional qualification concepts for the professionalization of teaching in the health care sector, as well as the development of a focus in health science education research. The professorship is to actively support the dean's office, the institutes and clinics of the Faculty of Medicine in the (further) development of curricula and implementation of new teaching and examination formats, also with regard to the implementation of new licensing regulations. The advising of teaching staff on educational research projects and the establishment of research alliances with scientists are expressly desired.

Prerequisites for employment are a completed university degree in human medicine, a relevant qualifying doctorate, the habilitation or proof of equivalent scientific achievements, which may also have been achieved in the context of a junior professorship or outside the university sector. A clearly identifiable scientific profile with internationally recognized research achievements in the field of medical teaching, evidenced by publications in international journals and/or peer-reviewed editorial works are as much a prerequisite as an academic didactic qualification, e.g. a Master of Medical Education and many years of expertise in the conception of curricula and structures in medical degree programs and corresponding medical didactic skills. The ability to successfully acquire third-party funding, extensive experience in teaching, especially in competence-based and student-centered programs, experience in supervising junior scientists, international networking, interdisciplinary and interprofessional cooperation, and leadership and management experience are expected.
