The IRC-HES, KFUPM invites applications for postdoc positions available at the University with a focus on Energy Storage Research with an anticipation to start immediately. We aim to develop safe, cost-effective, and high-performance electrochemical energy storage systems, specifically, Redox Flow Batteries (RFBs) and Solid-State Energy Storage Devices (SSE) technologies. Technically, the focus would be on the design and development of functional materials to be used as electrodes, ceramic, polymer, and ceramic-polymer composites conducting separators, electrolytes, and manufacturing and rational engineering design of energy storage systems.
In the case of an exceptional candidates, an appointment at the rank of Research Scientist or academic faculty position may be considered.
Candidate requirements:
The applicants must have excellent communication skills and hold a Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline. Ideal candidates should have a demonstrated research strength in the areas of multi-scale experimental/theoretical energy storage research related to solid-state batteries, redox flow batteries, thermal energy storage, batteries recycling & second life, battery safety, their optimization, and techno-economic analysis. Duties will include developing and maintaining a high profile recognized research program, supervision of graduate/undergraduate students, and occasional teaching at the University level.
