We are looking for a promising early-career researcher in exoplanets, brown dwarfs, or low-mass stars to join the group headed by Dr Trent Dupuy for a postdoctoral research position in the Institute for Astronomy (IfA) at the University of Edinburgh.
The successful candidate may work on a number of projects related to ground- and space-based observational data, depending on the fellow’s experience and research interests. The primary focus of Dupuy’s research group is to use high-precision astrometry to study the astrophysics of substellar objects by measuring parallactic distances, monitoring orbits, and determining dynamical masses. Data sets that the fellow may work on include optical and infrared imaging from the HST, Spitzer, JWST, Gaia, Keck, CFHT, and VLT.
The School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Edinburgh is committed to creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace and we are looking to actively diversify our staff and eliminate discrimination. We aim to ensure that our culture and systems support flexible and family-friendly working, as evidenced by our Juno Champion and Athena SWAN Silver awards. The University is a member of the Race Equality Charter and a Stonewall Scotland Diversity Champion, actively promoting LGBT+ equality.
We welcome applications from all qualified candidates, irrespective of nationality (advice on visa options is available on our webpages), gender, age, (dis)ability, race, carer status, religion or belief, and sexual orientation.
The post is fixed-term for 2 years (with the possibility of extension), with an expected start date of 1 August 2023 or later. Applications should be submitted online (follow the URL in the Apply to Job section). Please upload a research statement (3 pages maximum) in your application along with your CV and cover letter.
Informal inquiries are welcome and should be made to Dr Trent Dupuy.
