The Screen School at London College of Communication is recruiting a Sound Lecturer for the BA (Hons) Film and Television course. The course is located in the Screen School’s Film and Television programme portfolio of Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. http://www.arts.ac.uk/lcc/about-lcc/screen-school/

BA (Hons) Film and Television teaches both the practice and the contextual; drawing from cultural and critical analysis of fiction and factual film and programme making; with the practice focused on pre-production, production and post-production. With an emphasis on production, the course aims to advance students’ technical and practical skills, in sound capture and sound design for film and television. There is a strong emphasis on diversity, inclusive screen representation and decolonisation of the curriculum.

The successful candidate will teach within their area of expertise and the needs of the curriculum and provide management of the course resources and course staff. The appointed candidate will work primarily under the direction of the Post-Production Senior Lecturer, to deliver the teaching of sound, while contributing to School, College and University initiatives including research.

Your Profile

You will have experience as a professional sound recordist, sound designer and mixer. Bringing practitioner experience and academic knowledge, you will deliver and further develop the workflows and technologies that underpin sound recording, sound design and mixing for location and studio-based productions, and assure parity with current professional practices in your teaching.

Your expertise will contribute to inclusive teaching of British-Black, Asian-British, LGBTQA, gender and feminist debates within the screen industry.

You will demonstrate an ability to teach and motivate a diverse student population to think creatively and critically and to guide them to further research or professional careers. 

You should possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, manage and work alongside full and part time academic staff. Candidates should demonstrate subject knowledge as well as skills relevant to subject development within an academic, research and professional context.
