Opportunity to study abroad at the Masdar Institute of Science & Technology for Masters Degree in 2012/2013
The Masdar Institute of Science & Technology in the United Arab Emirates, through the Provincial Government of the Western Cape has made available 8 full Masters scholarships to students from the Western Cape Province.
Scholarship Particulars
The scholarship is aimed at students who are studying in the fields of Renewable Energy to enroll for two full academic years and covers tuition, housing, air travel and a monthly stipend. The students must be in their first year of Masters in 2012. Selected candidates are strongly encouraged to return to the Western Cape at the end of their studies and would be potentially offered contract employment within the Provincial Government of the Western Cape (PGWC).
Degrees offered by The Masdar Institute of Science and Technology
The following Masters degrees are offered by the Institution:
MSc in Chemical Engineering
MSc in Materials Science and Engineering
MSc in Water and Environmental Engineering
MSc in Computing and Information Science
MSc in Engineering Systems and Management
MSc in Electrical Power Engineering
MSc in Mechanical Engineering
Eligibility criteria
A relevant undergraduate degree- A degree must be in the field of science, engineering or information technology
An accumulated average of at least 75 % *** Please note: an accumulated average of 75% and above does not guarantee admission to the Institution.
Candidates must be South African citizens or with permanent residence status.

Eight bursaries will be available for nominees from the Four Universities of the Western Cape Province. The applications should be submitted no later than 14 October 2011.
Once the nomination process has been finalized by the PGWC, nominee’s details will be forwarded to the Masdar Institute of Science & Technology and the Institute will contact candidates directly.
Applications for the academic year commencing in September 2012 open at the end of October 2011 and closes 31 May 2012.
