Outstanding Undergraduate Health Education Majors of the Year Awards

The American Association for Health Education (AAHE) Outstanding Health Education Majors of the Year Awards program recognizes one outstanding undergraduate student majoring in health education/promotion from each degree track of the colleges or universities with professional preparation degree programs.

The awards are presented during the Outstanding Undergraduate Health Education Majors of the Year Awards Ceremony during the AAHE/AAHPERD Annual Convention. The Outstanding Majors, and all students, also have the opportunity to meet with health education leaders during the " Opportunity to Meet and Network with Health Education Leaders" session. This session provides students with the opportunity to discuss issues important to them and health education with leaders in the health education field in an informal, "conversational" setting.

Each institution is responsible for developing the criteria it wishes to use to identify its outstanding student of the year. Applications must be received by December 1st – late submissions will not be accepted.

Recognition of the outstanding major at each institution will be in the form of a certificate, which will be presented to the student. In addition, the names of all the recipients are published in HExtra, the newsletter of the American Association for Health Education, and UPDATE, the newsletter of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Students unable to attend the annual convention will be mailed their certificates.

Funds are not available to support travel expenses to the national convention. However, this is an out­stand­­ing professional opportunity for these very special future leaders. AAHE hopes that institutions will do whatever possible to help the selected student find resources (from majors' clubs, etc.) for travel and to participate in the recognition and professional activities at the national convention. Registration information is sent to each Major.
