Description The Division of Earth Sciences (EAR) awards 10 postdoctoral fellowships for up to 2 years to scientists in early stages of their careers. The National Science Foundation (NSF) administers this full-time, individual fellowship. This award is intended to carry out an integrated program of independent research and education relating to the structure, composition and evolution of the earth's biosphere, atmosphere, and hydrosphere. The program supports researchers with fellowships that can be taken to the institution or national facility of their choice, including facilities abroad.
Award Amount Fellows receive an annual stipend of $62,000 plus an allowance of $25,000 per year.

Citizenship Open only to U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
Requirements Applicants must be graduate students. OR, at the deadline time, have served in a position that requires a doctoral degree for no more than 18 full-time-equivalent months since earning the degree. Research projects should seek to address scientific questions within the purview of EAR program. Biographical sketches for the PhD advisor and scientific mentor(s). Letters of intent. The applicant is responsible for making prior arrangements with the host institution(s) and scientific mentor(s). Budget. Data management plan. Letter(s) of Commitment from the prospective host organization(s), signed by the department chair (or equivalent). Applicants are expected to include a coherent plan to broaden the participation of groups under-represented in Earth Sciences, which refers to women, persons with disabilities, African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, Alaska Natives, and Pacific Islanders.
