Description National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) provides up to 20 fellowships yearly to full-time underrepresented graduate students in STEM disciplines. The graduate fellowship seeks to support the development of the future science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce, by funding promising master's and PhD minority students. Within the fellowship, a 10-week center-based research experience is also available.
Award Amount Stipend of $18,000 for Master's fellows and $24,000 for Ph.D. fellows. Additional support for tuition and travel up to $8,500.
Disciplines Life Sciences. Physical Sciences. School of Engineering. NASA-related science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines.
Academic Level Prospective/Current Graduate Student. Working on Master's Thesis. Working on Doctoral Dissertation.
Citizenship Open only to U.S. citizens. Including residents of Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and Guam.
Requirements Applicants must be a member of an underrepresented group in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM), which includes women, ethnic minorities and persons with disabilities. Applicants must either be within the first 3 years of a graduate program at an accredited, U.S. university. Or, be in the process of applying to an accredited STEM graduate program. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. If selected, students cannot participate in any other federally-funded fellowship or scholarship program. At least 1 letter of recommendation from the applicant's faculty advisor. Proposal idea looked over by mentor.
