Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Assists with grant application preparation, post-award management and budget construction. 
  • Prepares the documentation that is required for research grant proposals. 
  • Prepares award set-up. 
  • Works with PIs on appropriate spending of grant funds. 
  • Monitors the related grant accounts. 
  • Assists with hiring and training certain grant-funded personnel. 
  • Provides support to the Executive Associate Dean for Research and to the Director of Research Operations in carrying out the research and scholarship mission of the School of Nursing. 

General Responsibilities

  • Provides day-to-day support related to the administration of contracts and grants.
  • Follows established processes and protocols to ensure contracts and grants are compliant with all university, sponsor, and federal policies.
  • Serves as departmental liaison on contracts and grants related issues.
  • Provides forecasting, compiles budget information, coordinates required approvals, and ensures timely submission of proposals to funding agencies.
  • Provides other various administrative support for contracts and grants operations.
  • May provide guidance or lead other contracts and grants support staff.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.  

 

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in related field. 

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 1 year of experience in related field.

  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills required to interact with all stakeholders - principal investigators, sponsors, all levels of administration, staff, and other various university departments/schools, and external agencies.
  • Proficiency in electronic proposal development and submission systems (both sponsor-provided and University's internal).
  • Knowledge of NIH and other external funding agency policies and regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of health care industry.
  • Ability to lead and build relationships.
  • Knowledge of University Administrative Systems (financial, grant management, time keeping, data extraction, report writing, purchasing), and knowledge of university policies and procedures.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
