The deadline for campuses to send their applications to the Chancellor's Office is March 13, 2014.
Description The California State University (CSU) program provides loans to doctoral students for up to 5 years, that may be partially forgiven by teaching at a CSU. The Chancellor's Doctoral Incentive Program is designed to increase the pool of individuals with qualifications, motivation, and skills to teach the diverse CSU student body. Program offers CSU faculty sponsorship. After participants receive their doctoral degrees and obtain a qualifying instructional position in the CSU, a portion of their loan from this program will be forgiven every year of qualifying employment. Loans obtained through the program are repayable over a 15-year period, commencing one year after completion of, or withdrawal from, full-time doctoral study. Receipt of a loan through this program and completion of the doctorate does not in any way guarantee employment as a faculty member at a CSU campus nor does it obligate the recipient to accept such employment, if applied for and offered.
Award Amount Provides a loan of $10,000 per year for up to a total of $30,000 within 5 years. Twenty percent of the loan is forgiven for each year of full-time teaching in the CSU.
Disciplines Open to all fields.
Academic Level Prospective/Current Graduate Student.
Citizenship No citizenship requirements. Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Requirements New or continuing full-time students who will be in doctoral programs at accredited universities anywhere in the U.S. are invited to apply. CV. Qualifications and motivations statement includes academic and professional experiences, connection to a CSU, and applicant's ability to educate a diverse student body. Applicants are not required to enroll or be employed at a CSU campus, though some preference may be given to individuals who have served in CSU positions represented by the California Faculty Association in the last 2 years. Lecturers are eligible and encouraged to apply. Probationary or tenured faculty members in the CSU cannot apply.
