Reports to: Director of Conflict & Dispute Resolution Master’s Program
Term: Part-time (minimum .5) for 12 months (annual renewal), with possibility that FTE may increase in the future depending on need, funding and performance
Salary Range: Salary is commensurate with skills, experience and aptitude. The minimum annual salary (based on a full time FTE) is between $35,000 to $45,000 with a generous benefits package.

General Description of the Position
The Career and Internship Counselor reports to the CRES Program Director. The person in this position has two areas of responsibility: career counseling and internship development/management. Duties include building ongoing relationships with potential public and private sector job and internship placement organizations, compiling and distributing job and internship information, arranging and conducting career and internship programs and workshops, reviewing student materials (CV’s, résumés, cover letters, etc.) and advising students on improvements, assisting students in identifying possible internship placements, managing and tracking internship requirements, building and maintaining an internship database, and other career and internship program development activities. The finalist for this position must successfully complete a criminal background check.
Description of Major Duties
Overall – 40%
Career Specific – 30%
1. Provides one-on-one career development support to CRES students and alumni, including strategy development and interview preparation (15 %)
2. Edits and reviews résumés, CV’s, cover letters and other application materials (10 %)
3. Assists with follow-up and statistics gathering for graduates (5 %)
Internship Specific – 30%
1. Assists students in identifying possible internship placements (10 %)
2. Approves internship placement proposals (2 %)
3. Reviews and approves blog entries, tracks internship requirements (5%)
4. Builds and maintains the internship database (3 %)
5. Undertakes other internship program development activities as directed (10 %)
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
Required:
- Master’s degree.
- Working knowledge of multiple areas of conflict resolution.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience.
- Well-developed organizational and administrative skills.
- Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with diverse groups of students, faculty, alumni, employers, and internship placement agencies
- Ability to cultivate and maintain collaborative working relationships.
- Well-developed organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong skills in word processing, spread sheet, and database technologies.
- Appreciation of diversity.
Preferred:
- Experience in career counseling.
- Experience working with students in an academic setting.
- Experience with internship program management.
- Practical experience in multiple areas of conflict resolution.
- Understanding of trends in national, regional, and local conflict resolution markets.
