Description   The American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (ASHFoundation) offers up to 20 scholarships for PhD candidates who will pursue a teacher-investigator career. Each year, these scholarships are offered for doctoral candidates who seek a career in the academic environment, university/college level. Funding will support doctoral education and research in the field of communication sciences and disorders. Scholars will be chosen based on research and teaching experience.  
Award Amount   Stipend of $10,000 directed toward educational support such as tuition, books, school-related expenses, living expenses, but not for personal or professional travel. 
Disciplines   Humanities. Life Sciences. Social Sciences. School of Education and Information Studies. School of Engineering. Health Sciences. Related to communication studies and disorders. 
Academic Level   Prospective/Current Graduate Student. Working on Doctoral Dissertation.  
Citizenship   No citizenship requirements.  
Requirements   Students must be accepted to, or currently enrolled in, a research doctoral program in communication sciences and disorders. Students enrolled in a clinical doctoral program are not eligible to participate. Students must also be either a (National Student Speech Language Hearing Association) NSSLHA member or an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) member at the time of application. Students should be committed to a teacher-investigator career in communication sciences and disorders in the US. Letter of application and modified vitae appendix, including career path, study plans, goals after completing the doctoral program, and research interests to date. Doctoral program chair or director must complete the Department Information Form. Transcripts. 3 confidential letters of recommendation. Students with full-time status will be given priority; however, students with part-time status will be considered.
