This position opens the door to an exciting opportunity to fortify and advance the globally recognized Medical Education courses offered by the Centre for Medical Education (CME), both locally in Dundee and on an international scale. As the incumbent, you'll take the lead in expanding our research in medical education assessment, ensuring that our post-graduate training programs embrace cutting-edge methodologies based on the latest evidence.

This opportunity will allow you to build upon the Centre's reputation for interdisciplinary teaching approaches in health professions education. You will accomplish this by cultivating external academic collaborations, supporting commercial enterprises, and leading on Masters, MD, and PhD supervision particularly looking at innovative assessment practices and quantitative research methodologies. As a key member of the CME's academic team, you will also collaborate closely with colleagues in both undergraduate and postgraduate School of Medicine programs and in other Schools in alignment with the overarching strategies of the School of Medicine and the University of Dundee. Beyond that, you will forge scholarship and research partnerships that not only mirror but also promote contempor! ary healt hcare practices through your expertise in medical education assessment.

Your professional base will be at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, a prominent institution among Europe's largest teaching hospitals.

Priorities of the post are to:

  • Lead on the development and delivery of teaching activities in the areas of Assessment as part of the Post- graduate Medical Education Masters programmes offered by CME
  • Lead on research activities in assessment in medical education at the highest level (REF 3-4* quality) -

publish in high quality research journals and present work at major international conferences

  • Be vigilant for appropriate opportunities to create collaborative interdisciplinary research and knowledge exchange opportunities with other academic or medical education partners
  • Supervise and mentor research and masters students particularly in topics that relate to innovative medical

education assessment and quantitative research methodologies.

  • Participate in the consultancy projects undertaken by CME both nationally and internationally.

Who we’re looking for:

  • You will have a PhD, MD, or Prof Doc in Medical Education, demonstrating specialized expertise in Assessment Methodologies.
  • Hold membership or fellowship status with the HEA or an equivalent organization.
  • Showcase evidence of leadership in the principles and delivery of assessment, along with experience in educational evaluation or knowledge translation.
  • Demonstrate a track record of research outputs in the realms of medical education assessment and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Evidence the ability to cultivate and integrate new knowledge and understanding within medical education assessment through research and knowledge exchange, such as in publications in high-quality medical education journals and conference presentations.
