University of Kent Graduate Teaching Assistantship 2012
About
The School of Politics and International Relations is offering two Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTAs). Students engaged as Graduate Teaching Assistants hold a unique position in the University; they are both registered students in receipt of a scholarship award and employees of the University.
The GTAs will cover tuition fees at the Home/EU rate plus a combined maintenance grant and salary, equivalent to the maintenance grant offered by the Research Councils (£13,590 in 2011-12).
The GTAs will be offered for one year in the first instance, renewable for a maximum of three years subject to satisfactory academic performance.
Criteria
Candidates must hold a good Honours degree (First or 2i) or a Master’s degree at merit or distinction in a relevant subject or equivalent.
The GTA competition is open to all postgraduate research applicants. UK, EU and overseas fee paying students are invited to apply.
Applicants will be expected to teach on our undergraduate programmes. Applicants who can teach or demonstrate the ability to teach Comparative Politics, Political Science or Conflict would be an advantage
How to apply
To be eligible for a GTA, candidates must make a formal application for postgraduate research study at the University of Kent. This can be done online.
When candidates send their application paperwork to the University of Kent they should include a letter stating that they would like to be considered for a GTA.
Telephone interviews will take place during the week of 9 April 2012, therefore candidates should also supply a telephone number where they can be reached that week.
The deadline for applications for 2012 has now passed. Full details for 2013 will be published here when available.
