Santander Dphil Scholarship – Spanish Studies
Santander: Santander is a leading global bank. Since 1996, Santander Universities has been the focus of its corporate social responsibility activities. Between 1996 and 2008, Santander has channelled 600 million Euros into sponsorship of academic, research and technological projects in support of higher education. Oxford is one of the 700 academic institutions that collaborate with Santander. As well as these Santander Graduate Awards, Santander also funds academic travel grants to Oxford graduate students.
ONE Santander Graduate Award will be made to support a full-time student for a DPhil in Spanish or Spanish American Literary or Linguistic Studies (Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages), and will last three years.
Am I eligible?
Candidates should be applying to start a DPhil in Spanish or Spanish American Literary or Linguistic Studies (Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages) at Oxford in October 2014.
Please ensure you meet the selection criteria for your course (see the Course Guide for more information).
You must be ordinarily resident in one of the following countries:
Arab Emirates Argentina Belgium Brazil Chile
China Colombia Germany Ghana Korea
Mexico Peru Poland Portugal Puerto Rico
Russia Singapore Spain Uruguay UK
Priority will be given to candidates that have a previous degree from a university within the Santander Universities Network .
The Santander Graduate Awards are made on the basis of academic merit.
This scholarship is not open to students with deferred entry .
What does it cover?
Value of the scholarship:
- For Home/EU student: £18,300 p/a for three years
- For Overseas student: £20,000 p/a for three years
How do I apply?
All eligible candidates that apply for a DPhil in Spanish or Spanish American Literary or Linguistic Studies (Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages) by the first, second or third deadline will be considered for selection. There is no additional application process for this scholarship; all eligible candidates who apply to Oxford by the deadline will be considered.
If you do not apply as detailed above by the deadline, you will not be considered for this scholarship.
Additional points to note when applying for this scholarship:
If, following the assessment of the March deadline applications, your department places your application on a waiting list, then you will no longer be eligible for this scholarship.
If you are accepted onto a different course from the one you originally applied for, you should contact us as soon as you are notified of the change in order to ensure that your application for a scholarship is maintained on the new course. However, please note that such a change of course may mean that you are no longer eligible for this scholarship.
How will I know if I have been successful?
Decisions on the successful applicant have now been made. If you have not heard from us by this time, then your application to this scheme has been unsuccessful. Due to the volume of applications we receive, we are unable to contact unsuccessful applicants individually or provide feedback on applications.
