Description
The School of Physiology and Pharmacology encompasses internationally recognised research groups whose interests extend from the cell to the whole animal, ranging from cell signalling and neuropharmacology to cardiovascular/respiratory function and the study of sensory and sensorimotor systems in the intact brain.
Working collaboratively within the school and with colleagues in the UK and abroad, we use our expertise to investigate how cells and organisms function and how we might modulate their function to improve health. Applicants for this Research Technician role are invited to join our behavioural studies team.
The post is funded by the MRC and aims to understand brain chemistry and its function. We are looking to appoint a highly motivated research technician to support our behavioural studies. Our approach is to combine patch clamp recording and cell imaging to investigate the processes that underlie the acute and chronic effects of opioid drugs such as morphine.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, bright, motivated individual seeking further career development within the area of behavioural research. You should have, or expect to have an honours degree in a relevant subject. Accurate record keeping and enthusiasm for research is essential as are good communication skills. You will have a sufficient level of technical competence and expertise to carry out experimental procedures independently following the initial training period.
