We are looking for an enthusiastic person with a research background to join the Faculty of Medical and Veterinary Sciences as a full-time Research Laboratory Technician.
Working as part of a wider technical support team, you will provide technical assistance for research groups from the three Schools within the Medical Sciences Building (Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Medicine, and Physiology and Pharmacology).
You should have experience of working in either a research or teaching laboratory environment, with good understanding of biological laboratory skills and techniques (e.g. in Microbiology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or Physiology). You will also have an enthusiasm for scientific research, and a desire to provide high quality technical support for research purposes.
Supporting a range of research groups, you will expand your knowledge of research techniques and contribute to the smooth running of laboratories, ensuring they are well managed and maintained. Other duties will include equipment maintenance and training, waste management and preparing materials for experiments.
You should also demonstrate organisational and administrative skills, be efficient and adaptable and used to working in a busy laboratory environment. The ability to prioritise effectively and work to deadlines is also required.
