- School of Physics & Astronomy
- Salary
- £27428 to £35788 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.
This post is available after 1 May 2012 and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 24 months.
A suitably qualified and experienced individual is required to carry out independent research on systems consisting of electronically highly excited trapped (Rydberg) ions. The research is aiming to characterise the properties of trapped ions in Rydberg states and to identify and analyse quantum gate protocols that rely on the properties of these Rydberg states.
Candidates must have a PhD, or equivalent in physics plus experience in theoretical atomic physics - in particular with Rydberg states of trapped ions. They should be confident, organised, have good communication skills and enjoy working across discipline boundaries. The role will require the successful candidate to actively contribute to the research activities of the ultra cold atoms group.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr. Igor Lesanovsky, tel: +44 115 84 68818 or Email: Igor.Lesanovsky@Nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent direct to this Email address will not be accepted.
