We are seeking a motivated and creative postdoctural researcher to work on the chromosome segregation machinery in the parasite Trypanosoma brucei. The work is part of a project funded by the BBSRC being performed by a research group led by Dr Bill Wickstead. The project involves the use of cell biology, genetic and molecular techniques to elucidate the action of the machinery surrounding segregation of the trypanosome genome, including the generation and screening of genome-wide RNA-interference libraries and generation of transgenic mutant lines. The appointee will join a newly-formed research group in the multidisciplinary Centre for Genetics and Genomics and will interact with other groups in the department with an interest in molecular parasitology and genome biology.

Candidates must hold a PhD or equivalent in molecular cell biology or a related area. It is also essential that they can demonstrate strong molecular skills and an ability to work quantitatively. Previous practical experience in the growth and genetic manipulation of protozoan cell lines is desirable, but not essential.

This full-time post is available from 1 October 2012 for a period of three years.
