Description
The quantum computation and information group at the University of Bristol is seeking to fill a number of postdoctoral positions of two years’ duration, open to those with research interests in theoretical aspects of quantum information and foundations of quantum mechanics. You should have a strong background and excellent record in quantum information science and have or be near to completing a relevant PhD. Pro-activity and willingness to work co-operatively in a team are also essential.
The posts are funded by the European Commission, the John Templeton Foundation, the European Research Council (ERC) and the EPSRC and will begin on 1 October 2012 or later by mutual agreement. Staff members in the QCI group are: Sandu Popescu (Physics), Noah Linden (Mathematics), Karoline Wiesner (Mathematics) and Andreas Winter (Mathematics). For a description of the group, see the group homepage http://www.cs.bris.ac.uk/Research/QuantumComputing/. The position may be based in either in the School of Mathematics or the School of Physics.
If successful, you may be appointed either on a fixed-term or an open-ended contract depending on the extent of your previous relevant research experience. Three years’ appropriate and relevant experience at another higher education institution would normally lead to an appointment on an open-ended contract. Further information can be found at www.bristol.ac.uk/hr/ftc/
It is expected that interviews will be held in September 2012.
