Description
We are seeking to appoint a talented and able medical statistician / epidemiologist / research psychologist with quantitative research experience to join a team of researchers working on an MRC-funded study investigating the causes and consequences of self-harm with and without suicidal intent in the ALSPAC birth cohort (http://www.bris.ac.uk/alspac). Detailed data on self-harm were collected when study members were 16 years old. The researcher will: i) investigate risk factors for self-harm with and without suicidal intent; ii) analyse the medium term consequences of self-harm; and iii) investigate the validity ALSPAC self-harm data.
The researcher will join a multidisciplinary team of statisticians, epidemiologists, psychiatrists, health economists and social scientists working on studies of mental health and suicide epidemiology. The post-holder will need proven skills in both multivariable data analysis and writing-up research findings. Knowledge, understanding and previous experience of working in the area of mental health will be an advantage as will previous publications.
