Applicants are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in the area of high power fibre lasers.  The project will involve the development of advanced fibre laser operating at high average powers and high pulse energies and to investigate and optimise their performance for specific industrial end-applications. The post is sponsored by SPI Lasers Ltd/Trumpf GmbH and very close collaboration with these industrial partners as well as strong interaction with groups across the ORC.

Applicants must have a strong background in lasers and optics with research experience in fibre lasers and/or amplifiers and excellent experimental skills.  The applicants will be expected to work as part of a cohesive team and to collaborate widely.  A PhD in Physics/Engineering or equivalent, with relevant post-graduate/postdoctoral experience in fibre lasers and/or amplifiers, is essential.  A hands-on approach is necessary along with a keen interest in developing new physical ideas from proof-of-principle to implementation, as well as working closely with industry in order to translate research into commercial products.
