Country: United Kingdom
Category: Scholarship
Program: Postgraduate
Field: Medical Sciences
Pirie-Reid is a small trust fund which is used for scholarships benefiting Scottish students coming to Oxford. The Pirie-Reid trust fund is managed by Wells Fargo in San Francisco. Since the death of Mrs Constance Pirie-Reid in 1975, the trust has funded scholarships in memory of her husband.
Am I eligible?
Candidates must be ordinarily resident or educated in Scotland and should be applying to start a new graduate course at Oxford. This scholarship is open to candidates studying for degree-bearing courses, with the exception of Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma courses.
Please ensure that you meet the requirements for entry to your course, including English language requirements. See the Course Guide for more information. Deferred entry students are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
What does it cover?
The value of the scholarship varies, but in general it will cover the cost of the tuition and college fee and sometimes also a small grant for living costs. Where possible, the scholarship may also be combined with other awards in order to make full scholarships covering tuition fees, college fees and living expenses at a set rate.
Awards are made for the full duration of a student's fee liability for the agreed course. If your scholarship is offered for a course lasting more than one year, the continuation of your scholarship each year is subject to an annual renewal process based on satisfactory academic progress.
How do I apply?
Apply at the same time as you apply to Oxford by selecting Pirie Reid in the Funding Section of the University's Graduate Application Form. In order to be considered for this scholarship, you must submit your application for graduate study by the relevant January deadline, and you must have secured a place on your chosen programme of study by the expected final decision date (13 March 2013). Applications with an outstanding admissions decision after this date, or applications which are re-evaluated against the later March deadline field, are not eligible for scholarship consideration.
Applicants who are ‘re-routed’ (accepted onto a different programme of study to the one they originally applied for e.g. transferred from an MPhil to a DPhil or from one course to another) should contact us as soon as they are notified of the change in order to ensure that their application for a scholarship is maintained on their new programme of study.
If you do not apply by the deadline, you will not be considered for the scholarship, even if you have selected Pirie Reid on the Graduate Application Form.
How will I know if I have been successful?
Successful candidates have now been notified. If you have not heard from us, then your application to this scheme has been unsuccessful. Due to the volume of applications we receive, we are unable to contact unsuccessful applicants individually or provide feedback on applications.
