We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Clinical Lecturer within the Dundee Institute for Healthcare Simulation (DIHS), to develop and deliver simulation-based education for undergraduate medical students and postgraduate programmes in healthcare education. This is a fixed-term appointment for 12 months in the first instance, with recurring funding in place.

The successful applicant(s) will contribute to the development and delivery of the undergraduate clinical skills programme, contribute to the delivery of the undergraduate communication skills course and be involved in the MBChB programme assessments via the OSCE. The role also involves professional development activities, oppor! tunities for research and curricular improvement projects.

The School of Medicine has made a substantial commitment to developing a high-quality simulation programme for undergraduate medical students. This has involved investment in faculty and facilities including up-to-date specialised simulators, part-task trainers, augmented and virtual reality simulators. The Centre contains a simulated ward, HOU and primary care environments which enables delivery of teaching ensuring learners are well prepared for supervised practice in the workplace during their clinical placements.

Your priorities will include:

  • Development and delivery of clinical skills teaching during the academic year
  • Providing skills education to students transferring from national and international medical schools
  • Development of OSCE stations for the assessment of undergraduate clinical and communication skills
  • Involvement in research and improvement projects


Who we're looking for:

  • Full registration with the GMC and an appropriate level of clinical experience
  • Experience of teaching and assessment in medical education
  • Ability to support students in their learning experience
  • Enthusiasm for teaching the next generation of healthcare professionals
