This full-time post is available immediately and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of two years.
Applications are invited from outstanding scientists for the above post based at the Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct advanced imaging research into processing of and central adaption to chronic pain in patients with knee osteoarthritis. The project forms part of the multidisciplinary research activities of the Arthritis Research UK Pain Centre creating a unique opportunity for scientific co-operation and access to well characterised study cohorts. The University of Nottingham offers excellent facilities for neuroimaging studies including clinical and research MR scanners operating at 1.5T, 3T and 7T and modern MEG/EEG facilities.
Candidates are expected to be highly competent in designing and performing functional neuroimaging studies, including advanced functional connectivity analyses. The post is particularly well suited for candidates with a strong fMRI background with interest in pain research. The successful candidate will be expected to develop strong collaborative links with other members of the Pain Centre and Neuroimaging scientists within the Faculties of Medicine and Science.
Candidates must hold a degree, or equivalent in Neuroscience, Psychology, Physics, Computer Science, or other relevant field (equivalent of UK 2.1 or better) and a PhD (or equivalent) in neuroimaging.
