Phd Positions on nanostrucured, solution processed, environmentally friendly photovoltaics

The Functional Optoelectronic NanoMaterials group at ICFO, led by ICREA Prof. Gerasimos Konstantatos, is launching a research program on the design, synthesis and engineering of nanostructured inorganic materials based on Environmentally Friendly Earth Abundant elements for Energy harvesting and solar cell applications.

The program will develop new hierarchical engineering schemes of inorganic nanocrystalline semiconductor compounds from the atomic to the suprananocrystalline level to develop high performance low-cost solution-processed solar cells that can cover the broad solar spectrum from the visible to the infrared in both single junction and tandem architectures.

To address this grand challenge, we seek highly motivated, visionary and highly skilled researchers to form a multidisciplinary team at different levels (postdoctoral and pre-doctoral).

By means of this opening, we are looking for highly motivated candidates who wish to enhance their scientific career in the field of Functional Optoelectronic Nanomaterials, and obtain a doctoral degree in the field of environmentally friendly solution processed photovoltaics.

Potential projects available in this framework are:

1.    Development of high throughput low cost manufacturing processes of colloidal quantum dot / nanocrystalline solar cells based on spraycoating or similar for large area deposition and manufacturing.

 2.   Development and detailed optoelectronic characterization of solution processed nanocrystal solar cells based on environmentally friendly elements.

 3.   Development and engineering of new semiconducting nanoparticles and their applications in solar cells.

 4.   Design and development of new Pb-free and robust perovskite materials and their application in solar cells.
