Offer Description
We are looking for a PhD candidate to join the research group of Postharvest Biology and Technology in the Department of Food Technology, Engineering and Science at the University of Lleida (Spain) with a 3-year PhD contract.
The PhD fellow will be integrated into the Doctorate Program: ‘Agricultural and Food Science and Technology’ of the University of Lleida. The program obtained a Mention of Quality (MCD2007-00037) in 2007, followed by a Mention of Excellence in 2011, which was accredited in 2022.
The candidate will join our research group and work in the context of the National Project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation entitled ALIPAT. The project is focused on mitigating the risk associated with patulin in apple juice through biotransformation. The project mixes microbiological, molecular, and chemical techniques to obtain the defined objectives.

Skills/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s and master’s degree in Food Science and Technology, Biotechnology, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, or related fields.
- Transcript of records for the bachelor’s degree, with a minimum grade of 6.5 out of 10.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of Catalan or Spanish is desirable.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team of researchers, as well as independently.
- Strong communication and documentation skills to present results clearly and professionally.
- High motivation for the research topic and a strong commitment to work.
Specific Requirements
Previous participation in research projects related to Food Science and Technology will be valued.
