Mathematics & Statistics: Post-Doctoral Research Assistant

Post-Doctoral Research Assistant

Applications are invited for a three-year Post-Doctoral Research Assistant (PDRA) position. The position is primarily funded through an EPSRC grant, and the area research is harmonic analysis/partial differential equations. The position is available from September 2012.

You will join the analysis group at the University of Edinburgh and the Maxwell Institute. Profile and research interests of this group you can see here: www.maths.ed.ac.uk/research/show/group/4

You are be expected to have completed a Ph.D. in mathematics by the start of the position. You are expected to have a good background in harmonic analysis/PDEs. In addition, it would be of particular value to have expertise in some of the following: elliptic partial differential equations or optionally other types of partial differential equations, experience with handling PDEs with coefficients of low regularity or on rough boundaries, background in Hardy, Hardy-Sobolev and BMO spaces, familiarity with concepts of Square and Nontagential maximal functions, familiarity with techniques of harmonic analysis.
