By order issued by the Director General of the Telecommunications Institute on May 02, 2024, it was approved to open an international call to select one candidate researcher in the scientific scope of the project ALERT-PFAS - S1/2.4/P0099, under the scope of an indefinite term working contract, overseen by the Portuguese legal Work Code. Job description:

• Develop novel optical chemical sensors based on fibre optics for the detection in real time of micropollutants.

 

Applicable Legislation:

• Decree-Law no. 57/2016 of 29th of August, which approved the hiring of doctorate to stimulate scientific and technological employment for all areas of knowledge (RJEC), amended by the Law 57/2017 dated 19th of July, and regulated by Regulatory Decree nr 11-A/2017, dated 29th December
• Labour Code approved by Law no. 7/2009 of 12 February, under its current Reading.

 

The workplace shall be at Instituto de Telecomunicações, Polo de Aveiro, Campus Universitário de Santiago, 3810-193 Aveiro.

Formalisation of applications:

Applications are formalised by sending a Motivation Letter, addressed to the Board of Instituto de Telecomunicações, including this announcement identification, full name, parents’ names, ID card, or Citizen Card number and date, or civil identification number, taxpayer ID number, date and place of birth, marital status, occupation, residence and contact address, including email address and telephone

Applications shall include all supported documents encompassed by section 6 and 7 for tender admission, namely:

a) Copy of certificate or diploma;

b) Doctorate thesis;

c) Curriculum vitae detailed and structured pursuant to sections 9 and 11.

7.1 – Hold a PhD degree in in Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, Physics, Physics Engineering, Electronics, Mathematics, Telecommunications, or other related scientific area with proven experience in optical fiber sensing technology.

7.2 – Knowledge both oral and written of the English language.

7.3 – Ability to establish good interpersonal relationships and a sense of responsibility and organization.

Benefits

The monthly remuneration to be attributed corresponds to the position of Junior Researcher with the remuneration of 2 294,95 euros.

Eligibility criteria

Any national, foreign and stateless candidate(s) holding a doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, Physics, Physics Engineering, Electronics, Mathematics, Telecommunications,or other related scientific area and a suitable scientific and professional curriculum may submit an application.

Selection process

According to article 13 of RJEC, the selection panel shall be: Prof. Dr. Rogério Nogueira (President), Prof. Dr. Catarina Novo and Prof. Dr. Ricardo Oliveira, and by Prof. Dr. Miguel Drummond as substitute member.

The evaluation of the scientific and curricular career has two components, namely: The assessment of the curriculum vitae and other documentation presented (...) This component of the evaluation is expressed in a scale of 0 to 20, and candidates with less than 15 are automatically considered excluded from the call. (...) Candidates with a classification of 14 or higher in the previous component shall make a public live presentation (...) Candidates with less than 14 in this component are automatically considered excluded from the call.

Each panel member score is obtained attributing a weighing factor of 90% to the classification given to the evaluation of the curriculum vitae and other documentation, and a weighing factor of 10% to the classification given to the Interview.

The list of admitted and excluded candidates and the final ranking list will be sent to all candidates by email.
