Offer Description

Applications are open for 1 (one) Research Studentship(s), within the framework of project/R&D institution ( Mathematical Modeling of invasion resistance in multispecies systems/Center for Computational and Stochastic Mathematics, Instituto Superior Tecnico ), (2022.03060.PTDC), financed by national funds through FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC)

Workplan: The fellowship holder will extract and analyze microbial diversity data from the literature and develop computational tools to study and integrate the data within mathematical models of differential equations and population dynamics. The work involves competences in Python, Mathematica Matlab, and R, with focus on statistics, data analysis, dynamical systems and simulation. A good level of English is important. Key characteristics: responsability, motivation, technical proficiency, enthusiasm for research in mathematical biomedicine. Previous experience with modeling in biomedicine is an advantage.

Duration: The research fellowship(s) will have the duration of 3 months. It’s expected to begin in March 2024, and may be eventually renewed up to the maximum of 6 months.

    Benefits

    Monthly maintenance allowance: According to the values for Research Fellowships awarded by FCT in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_2023.pdf ), the amount of the monthly maintenance allowance is € 1199,64 being the payment method an option of the Fellow by Wire Transfer/Check.

    Selection process

    Selection methods: The selection methods will be the following: Curriculum evaluation (30%), individual interview (presential or virtual, 40%), written work by the candidate (10%), motivation letter (10%) recommendation letter(s) (minimum 1 letter, max. 2: 10%).

    Announcement/ notification of the results: The final evaluation results will be communicated to all applicants by email.

    Deadlines and procedures of complaint and appeal . A complaint may be lodged from the final decision within 15 working days, or an appeal to the Executive Board of IST-ID within 30 working days, both counted from the respective notification
