Offer Description

Applications are open for 1 Research Studentship, within the scope of the R&D Unit CiTUA - Centre for Innovation in Territory, Urbanism and Architecture, ref. UIDP/05703/2020, with the financial support of FCT/MCTES through national funds

Workplan: The candidate will participate in the Research Acceleration Project of CiTUA’s Thematic Line 3 (Fire-B-aware) that aims to investigate the wildfire risk perception and preparedness amongst school children and their families in Portugal. In specific, the candidate will develop the following tasks within the scope of Fire-B-aware:

Collect data through the application of the questionnaires in 3rd cycle schools in Mainland Portugal;

Develop school activities on wildfire risk perception;

Treatment, analysis and systematization of data collected;

Support on elaboration of the project scientific production

Duration: The research fellowship will have the duration of 3 months, being expected to begin in May 2024, and may be eventually renewed up to the end of the project, with the limit of 24 months, including the duration of the initial contract. When the academic degree or certificate is granted within the duration of the scholarship contract, it can be concluded under the established contractual terms

Have expertise on planning and territorial management scientific areas;

Have professional experience in ArcGIS and Photoshop software’s;

Have experience in website’s managing;

Have been engaged on school community participatory processes;

Have a drivers’ license;

Be available to travel within Mainland Portugal (data collection);

Have communication skills;

Be fluent (spoken and written) in Portuguese and English;

Have organization and autonomy capacities, to be committed to the defined goals and have facility of group work.

Benefits

Monthly maintenance allowance: According to the values for Research Fellowships awarded by FCT in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_atualizacao-2024.pdf ), the amount of the monthly maintenance allowance is €990,98, being the payment method by Wire Transfer

Selection process

Selection methods: The selection methods will be the following:

Curriculum evaluation (CV and qualifications) (80%)

Experience in research, collection and systematization of data (20%)

Individual interview (optional in case of a tie)

Composition of the selection Jury: Prof. Isabel Loupa Ramos, Prof. Fátima Bernardo and Dr. Joana Dias.

Announcement/ notification of the results: The final evaluation results will be communicated to all applicants by email.

Deadlines and procedures for prior hearing, complaint, and appeal: After communication of the provisional list of evaluation results, the candidates have a period of 10 working days to, if they so wish, comment at a prior hearing of interested parties, according to articles 121.º and following of the Code of Administrative Procedure. The final decision will be issued after analyzing the pronouncements presented in the prior hearing of interested parties. A complaint may be lodged, against the final decision, with the Jury of the contest, or an appeal with the President of IST-ID, within 15 working days from the respective notification.
