The Instituto Nacional de Investigação Agrária e Veterinária (National Institute for Agricultural and Veterinary Research) hereby announces an open call for a research scholarship for a university graduate (BI) under the project PRR-C05-i03-I-000190-LA2.2- “RumiRes LA 2.2 – Vigilância epidemiológica e sensibilização para as resistências antimicrobianas e resíduos medicamentosos em pequenos ruminantes da região Centro”, financed by the Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) under the following conditions:

1. Type and number of vacancies: 1 research scholarship for a university graduate.

2. Requirements:

a) Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related areas;

b) Proof of entry in a study cycle conferring an academic degree or an approval diploma of the curricular component or proof of entry in a study cycle not conferring an academic degree, to be presented until the contract is signed.

3. Preference Factors:

c) Curricular experience in laboratory practice in food chemistry and/or evidence of professional experience in the area of food chemical analysis and in the development of analytical methods for the detection of contaminants in food products;

d) Proven experience in liquid chromatography methodologies coupled to mass spectrometry detectors and method validation;

e) Experience of participation in research projects, namely in the preparation of scientific publications and reports;

f) availability for travel in the aim of the project;

g) Good knowledge of Portuguese and English (spoken/written);

h) Basic computer knowledge;

i) Professional rigor and good teamwork skills;

j) Resilience, critical thinking and ability to work autonomously;

k) immediate availability.

4. Working Plan:

j) - Participation in project “RumiRes LA 2.2 – Vigilância epidemiológica e sensibilização para as resistências antimicrobianas e resíduos medicamentosos em pequenos ruminantes da região Centro”, which includes activities related to the evaluation of antimicrobial and antiparasitic residues in food (milk and meat) originating from small ruminants. The graduate fellow will be responsible for supporting the project’s work tasks in which INIAV is involved, with special emphasis on the optimization and validation of analytical methodologies; collaboration in the discussion of results and in general dissemination activities.

 

5. Legislation and Regulation:

Statute of Scientific Research Grant, approved by Law nº 40/2004, of 18 August, amended and republished by Decree-Law nº 202/2012 of 27 August and amended by Decree-Law nº 233/2012 of 29 October, Law nº 12/2013 of 29 January and Decree-Law nº 89/2013 of 9 July and Decree-Law nº 123/2019. Regulation nº 950/2019, of 16 December, which approves the FCT, I.P. Research Grants Regulation available at (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento ) under Decree-Law nº 123/2019, of 28 August, which updated several provisions of the EBI.

6. Duration of the Concession:

The grant will last for about 12 months, starting in May 2024.

7. Monthly allowance:

According to the values of the Research Grants awarded by FCT in Portugal (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ), the monthly maintenance allowance is 990,98 €/month, and the form of payment to the grant holder is by bank transfer.

The monthly grant amount is according to the grant chart of the grants directly awarded by FCT, IP, in the country (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ) Regulation nº 950/2019 of 16 December. The periodicity of payment of the grant is monthly and by bank transfer.

Research grant recipients benefit from personal accident insurance and, if not covered by any social protection scheme, may ensure the exercise of the right to social security by joining the voluntary social insurance scheme in accordance with the Code of Contributory Regimes of Social Security.

 

8. Workplace:

The work will be carried out at the National Institute for Agricultural and Veterinary Research, I.P. (INIAV), (UEISTSA), in Campus de Vairão, na Rua dos Lágidos, Lugar da Madalena, 4485-655 Vairão, Vila do Conde, Portugal.

9. Technical orientation:

The fellow will be supervised by the researcher Andreia Freitas.

10. Additional documents:

3. Documents (digital copies) proving the elements considered most relevant and academic qualifications certificates - mandatory;

4. Declaration of honor regarding the conditions that are not fulfilled in official documents, namely the availability for the development of the field work, within INIAV, I.P. working hours;

5. Other documents that the applicant considers relevant for the evaluation of his/her technical and scientific merit.

11. Selection method and its value: Selection criteria:

The selection method, of an eliminatory nature, will consist of curriculum evaluation and an interview, if the jury considers it necessary.

The criteria for evaluation of the applications shall be based on the combined assessment of the following criteria:

AQ - Academic qualifications;

PT / PE / PA - Professional training, professional experience and profile adequacy;

E - Should the jury deem it necessary, an individual interview will be held with the candidates to assess the profile adequacy.

Formula for evaluation: CF = 0,6AQx0,2PE+0,2PA or CF=0,4AQ+0,2PE+0,2PA+0,2E

12. Composition of the Selection Jury:

13. Announcement / notification of results:

Based on the classification obtained by the candidates, the jury will proceed to their ranking. The lists of admitted and excluded candidates and the final classification will be sent to the respective e-mails and posted at the premises of the services of INIAV, I.P. in Oeiras.

After the publication of the results, the candidates shall be considered automatically notified so that, if they wish to comment on the hearing of the interested parties, they may do so within 10 working days from the date of publication. At the end of this period, the selected candidate shall be notified in writing of the award of the scholarship and communication of the starting date.

In case of resignation or withdrawal of the selected candidate, the immediately better ranked candidate will be notified, and so on.
