Announcement Nº08/2024/BI (Master) National Institute of Agricultural and Veterinary Research, IP (INIAV) Research Grant Master under the project CorkNut – Florestas mistas de sobreiro e pinheiro manso: gestão para valorização dos produtos, promoção da biodiversidade e prevenção de fogos florestais (PCIF/MOS/0012/2019) The National Institute of Agricultural and Veterinary Research, IP (INIAV) hereby announces an open call for a research grant for a candidate with Master degree (BI) - under the project CorkNut – Florestas mistas de sobreiro e pinheiro manso: gestão para valorização dos produtos, promoção da biodiversidade e prevenção de fogos florestais (PCIF/MOS/0012/2019) under the following conditions: 1. Type and number of vacancies: 1 (one) research grant for a candidate with a master degree. 2. Scientific area: Earth and Environmental Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Biological Sciences 3. Requirements:  Master degree in Earth and Environmental Sciences, Geography, Agricultural Sciences, Biological Sciences  Proof of academic degree (Master)  Registration certificate of a non-degree academic training 4. Preference Factors: Preference will be given to candidates with:  Master's degree in the above-mentioned scientific areas;  Field experience: forest inventory and health assessment of trees, use of equipment for measurement and georeferencing;  Office/lab experience: proficiency in geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, databases, programming knowledge in R;  Experience in participating in scientific and promotional events; Mod.CI-001/4 (05.2022) www.iniav.pt  Personal skills: motivation, availability for frequent fieldwork, teamwork, excellent communication, organization skills, and focus on practical problem-solving in forest management;  Driving license. Fieldwork will take place in plots with stone pine and cork oak in the central and southern regions of the country. 5. Working Plan: Participation in all project activities including:  Fieldwork with frequent trips throughout the country;  Construction and maintenance of databases in GIS and treatment of geostatistical modeling;  Forest and fire simulators;  Scientific publications (in English);  Support in the organization and participation of national and international scientific and promotional events (presentations in English). 6. Legislation and Regulation: Scientific Research Grant Statute, approved by Law nº 40/2004, of 18 August, amended and republished by Decree-Law nº 202/2012 of 27 August and amended by Decree-Law nº 233/2012 of 29 October, Law nº 12/2013 of 29 January and Decree-Law nº 89/2013 of 9 July and Decree-Law nº 123/2019. Regulation nº 950/2019, of 16 December, which approves the FCT, I.P. Research Grants Regulation available at (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento ) under Decree-Law nº 123/2019, of 28 August, which updated several provisions of the EBI. 7. Duration of the Grant: The grant will be awarded on a full-time basis, for a period of 8 months, with an expected starting date in June 2024, until the end of the project, in January 31th 2025. 8. Monthly allowance: The grant is for € 1259,64 € per month, as per amounts specified by FCT, (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ) under Regulation No. 234/2012. Payments will be made on a monthly basis via bank transfer. The grant holder will be covered by accident Mod.CI-001/4 (05.2022) www.iniav.pt insurance and, if they are not covered by any social protection scheme, they may voluntarily join the social insurance scheme under the terms provided for in the Code of Contributory Schemes of the System Social Security Social Security. 9. Workplace: Shared between the National Institute of Agricultural and Veterinary Research, IP (INIAV), in Oeiras, and Institute Superior of Agronomy (participating institution). 10. Technical orientation: The candidate will be supervised by the INIAV researcher Alexandra Correia. 11. Application documents: The application must contain the following documents: 1. Motivation letter (dated and signed) addressed to the Principal Investigator, Dr. Alexandra Correia, containing the complete identification of the candidate and the reference to this call for reference 08/2024/BI; 3. Documents (digital copies) that prove the elements considered most relevant and academic qualifications certificates - mandatory; 4. Registration certificate is a non-degree academic training; 5. Other documents that the candidate considers relevant for the evaluation of his/her technical and scientific merit. 12. Selection method and its value: Selection criteria: The selection method, with an eliminatory nature, will consist of curriculum evaluation and eventually an interview if the jury considers it necessary. The evaluation criteria applications will be based on the combined assessment of the following criteria: AQ - Academic qualifications; PT - Professional training, professional experience and profile adequacy; E - Should the jury deem it necessary, an individual interview will be held with the candidates to assess the profile adequacy. Mod.CI-001/4 (05.2022) www.iniav.pt Based in the abovementioned criteria, the final classification (FC, Final Classification) will be: FC = 0.5 AQ + 0.5 PT or FC = 0.4 AQ + 0.4 PT + 0.2 E 13. Deadline for submissions: The deadline for applications submission is 10 working days following the publication date of this notice. All requested documents must be in PDF format and sent via e-mail to [email protected] with the 08/2024/BI reference. It will not be accepted regular postal mail (CTT) submissions. 15. Announcement / notification of results: Candidates will be ranked according to the classification protocol specified above. The list of admitted and excluded candidates and the final classification will be e-mailed to the candidates as well as posted at the INIAV’s Forestry Building. After the publication of the results, the candidates shall be considered automatically notified so that, if they wish to comment on the hearing of the interested parties, they may do so within 10 working days from the date of publication. At the end of this period, the selected candidate shall be notified of the award of the scholarship and communication of the starting date. In case of resignation or withdrawal of the selected candidate, the following ranked candidate will be notified, and so on.
