NOTICE OF COMPETITION FOR AN INITIAL RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP –GRADUATION STUDENTS IN THE AREA OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING – AERO-NEXT AGENDA

Bearing in mind Regulation No. 437/2020 on Research Grants of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, published in the 2nd series of the Official Gazette No. 83, of April 28, it is made public that, by order of 15-02-2024 from the President of the IPS, a competition is open for the award of a Research Initiation Scholarship (BII) aimed at carrying out R&D activities for students enrolled in a Degree, in the area of Mechanical Engineering, Agenda Aero.Next Portugal – ILAN VR Program, financed through the Recovery and Resilience Program (PRR) with the period for receiving applications from 11-03-2024 to 22-03-2024, in accordance with the following conditions:

  • Duration of the Scholarship - The scholarship lasts for 12 months,
  • Recipients - The scholarship is intended for candidates with the following profile:
  • • Students enrolled in a Degree in Mechanical Engineering;

    • Mastery of the Portuguese language, spoken and written;

    • Mastery of the English language, spoken and written.

  • Financial component - According to the Table, contained in Annex I to the FCT Scholarship Regulation, approved by Regulation No. 950/2019, published in the Diário da República, 2nd series of December 16 (updated version), the value of the Scholarship corresponds to € 601,12 being paid monthly, by bank transfer.
  • Workplace -The work will be carried out, on an exclusive basis, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Escola Superior de Tecnologia de Setúbal, under the scientific guidance of Professor Ricardo Cláudio.
  • Activity plan- Support in the development, production, assembly, configuration and testing of a drone adapted for autonomous aircraft inspection, using mainly additive manufacturing technology for the production of structural components. Market consultation and preparation of the purchasing process, reception and verification of material. Support in the detailed design of the drone oriented towards additive manufacturing. Support in testing drone subsystems and design/manufacture of support elements for carrying out tests, production of parts by additive manufacturing and other processes that may be necessary. Final assembly. Support in configuring the drone controller. Monitoring of aircraft inspection tests and trials (activities that may take place at partners' facilities) and support in preparing reports.

  • In the interview, 4 evaluation parameters are defined and their classification results from the following formula: E=MI+TTK+CS+VEF

    • Motivation and Interest (MI)
    •  Theoretical and Technical Knowledge (TTK)
    •  Critical Sense (CS)
    •  Verbal Expression and Fluency, including in English (VEF)

    Each dimension is valued with a maximum rating of 1.25 points, if the candidate demonstrates the competence or behavior under evaluation and 0 points, if he does not.

  • . CALCULATION OF THE FINAL CLASSIFICATION
  • The final classification (CF) of each candidate will be calculated using the following equation::

    CF= 0,35*GA+0,35*CV+0,3*CM+E

     

  • The ordering of candidates will be expressed on a scale of 0 to 20 values, rounded to the nearest tenth, according to the value attributed to the criteria previously specified. In the event of a tie, the one who achieved the highest rating in the Interview component will be used as the tiebreaker.
  •  For the candidate to be admitted, they must achieve a minimum total classification of 9.5 values and 4.5 values in the classification of (0.35*GA+0.35*CV+0.3*CM) (condition for admission, taking account the maximum rating of the interview)
  • If there is only one candidate admitted and has already obtained at least 9.5 points in the classification of (0.35*GA+0.35*CV+0.3*CM), the interview component will be waived, as per 6.2
  • Based on the final ranking list, a recruitment reserve will be created, which will be used for the eventual hiring of approved candidates in the event of withdrawal of those placed in positions eligible for hiring.

    • Letter of motivation addressed to the President of the IPS;
    • Candidacy form;
    • Detailed CV;
    • Proof of student status of the degree and course, with grades obtained in all curricular units completed, issued by the Academic Division of the Higher Education Institution in which you are enrolled.
