Offer Description

Work Plan: The work plan includes participation in and development of scientific activities within the project of service provision in the field of water governance, focusing particularly on the following thematic areas: i) Identification, collection, and analysis of literature on water governance, including a review of international experiences, particularly in regions with characteristics similar to those of Portugal; ii) Support in conducting interviews with a selected set of stakeholders and analysis of their content; iii) Support in the organization and facilitation of Focus Groups and a Collaborative Workshop; iv) Support in the development of a policy brief in the domain of water governance in Portugal; v) Preparation of reports on the activities carried out.

Workplace: The work will be carried out at CENSE - Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research, Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of Nova University Lisbon, under the scientific supervision of Professor Doctor Rui Ferreira dos Santos, with the contracting entity being NOVA.id.FCT - Association for the Innovation and Development of FCT

Fellowship duration: The scholarship will have a duration of 6 months, with the expected start date in April 2024. The scholarship contract may be eventually renewed within the project's duration.

Application deadline and form of application submission: The competition is open from March 27 TH, 2024, to April 10TH, 2024. Documentation to be provided with the application: Applications must be formalized by sending the following documents: Curriculum Vitae, academic degree certificate, or other relevant supporting documents, including the master's degree certificate. Method of application submission: Applications must be formalized by sending an email to [email protected] ; indicating in the Subject: Application for Research Scholarship in the project in water governance. Documentation to be provided when contracting: proof of enrolment on a PhD or non-degree course as part of a Higher Education Institution's educational project.

Recipients profile/category Mandatory requirements: • Candidates must hold a Master's or Integrated Master's degree in the scientific area of the competition; • Candidates must demonstrate knowledge and/or experience in water management and governance areas, as well as in the development of participatory processes; • Candidates must have good teamwork skills and the ability to work autonomously; • Candidates must be enrolled in a doctoral program, or in non-degree courses integrated into the educational project of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units; • Documentary evidence of academic degrees and diplomas, or their recognition when awarded by foreign higher education institutions, may be waived during the application phase for the respective grants, being replaced by a declaration of honor from the candidate according to a specific template. Verification of this condition will occur only during the grant contracting phase

Benefits

Monthly maintenance allowance amount: The monthly amount of the scholarship is €1.259.64, based on the table of values of scholarships directly awarded by FCT, I.P. in the country, with payment made monthly via bank transfer.


Eligibility criteria

Selection criteria: Applications will be ranked based on the curriculum evaluation and, if deemed necessary by the jury, through conducting an interview. In all cases, the suitability of the candidate's profile will be considered according to the functions/activities to be performed. Applications that do not include all the required elements for submitting the application will be automatically excluded from the competition. The phases and criteria for selection and their respective weights are as follows: a) Qualifications and Scientific Merit (60%) b) Motivation Letter (40%) c) In case there is a need for additional evaluation elements, there may be an interview with the three highest-ranked candidates in the evaluation process. The interview will have a weight of 20% for the final evaluation, with the other components, a) and b), each a weight of 50% and 30%, respectively

Composition of the Selection Jury: President - Doctor Rui Ferreira dos Santos - Full Professor at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of Nova University Lisbon; 1 st effective member - Doctor Maria Paula Antunes - Full Professor at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of Nova University Lisbon; 2 nd effective member - Doctor Rita Lopes - Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of Nova University Lisbon; 1 st alternate member - Doctor Nuno Videira Costa - Associate Professor at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of Nova University Lisbon; 2 nd alternate member - Doctor António Sousa da Câmara - Full Professor at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of Nova University Lisbon. 10. Form of advertising/notification of results: The evaluation results proposed by the jury will be notified, up to 90 days after the deadline for the submission of applications, by email, of the results proposed by the jury, with access to the minutes and the final ranking list. After notification, candidates will have 10 working days to comment on the draft decision (prior hearing of interested parties, under the terms of the Code of Administrative Procedure). The final decision will be taken after the expiry of the prior hearing period, again notified to all candidates by e-mail. Of this final decision the candidates can file a complaint within 15 working days (to the e-mail address used for the notification), or an hierarchical appeal, within 30 working days, addressed to NOVA.ID.FCT's Board through the address [email protected] .
