Offer Description

A call for applications for a Research Grant (BI) under the "Pharmapitox" Project, in the scientific
area of Food Science or Engineering, is open from 13/05/2024 to 31/05/2024.

The candidate must:

- Be enrolled in a non-degree course integrated into the educational project of a higher education institution;

- Possess a master's degree in biological sciences or related areas;

- Have appropriate training and experience for the objectives of the intended work;

- Demonstrate experience in fermentative processes, toxicity assessment, and the bioactive properties of natural products;

- Have proficiency in R programming;

- Have fluency in English, both in written and oral communication;

- Possess experience in writing scientific articles.

Additional Information
Benefits

The fellow will benefit from a grant of 1.259,64€ as per the table of remuneration of FCT,I.P.. The
fellow will also benefit from personal accident insurance, and if not included in any social security
protocol, may adhere to the Portuguese Social Security through the Seguro Social Voluntário
(Voluntary Social Security), in the terms present in the Portuguese Código dos Regimes Contributivos do Sistema Previdencial de Segurança Social. The monthly grant will be paid by
banktransfer.

Eligibility criteria

The candidate must:

institution;
- Possess a master's degree in biological sciences or related areas;
- Have appropriate training and experience for the objectives of the intended work;
- Demonstrate experience in fermentative processes, toxicity assessment, and the bioactive
properties of natural products;
- Have proficiency in R programming;
- Have fluency in English, both in written and oral communication;
- Possess experience in writing scientific articles.

The candidate must hold a master's degree in the field of biological sciences or related areas.
 

Selection process

The selection methods to be used will be as follows:
1) Curriculum evaluation and its suitability for the research work in question (45%);

2) Experience in fermentative processes, toxicity assessment, and bioactive properties of natural
products (20%);
3) Experience in using R software (20%);
4) Experience in article writing (15%).

The jury may choose not to award the scholarship if the candidates' score is below 9.5 points (on
a scale of 0 to 20).
 

The communications and the final results of the evaluation will be disclosed by email notification to
the candidates.
If the decision to be taken is unfavourable to the granting of the requested scholarship, the candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the date of publication of the evaluation results,to express their opinion, if desired, in a prior hearing, under the terms provided for in the Code of the Administrative Procedure.
 

Additional comments

Documents proving the ownership of academic degrees or diplomas, or enrollment in an
academicdegree or diploma, may be dispensed with during the application stage, being replaced by
adeclaration of honor by the candidate, although substantiation of this condition is mandatory
duringthe grant contracting stage.
Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries require recognition by a Portuguese Institution
inaccordance with Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16th and Ordinance No. 33/2019, of
January25th. The presentation of the recognition is mandatory for the signing of the contract.
