Offer Description

Call is open for the award of 1 (one) Research Fellowship (BI) at UNINOVA - Institute for the Development of New Technologies within the scope of the project Arrowhead fPVN - Arrowhead flexible Production Value Network (ID: 101111977), funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe Programme, for the development of R&D activities to be carried out by doctoral students or by graduates and masters enrolled in courses not leading to an academic degree, under the following conditions:

Recipient admission requirements /Profile:

  • Be enrolled in a PhD or be a graduate and master enrolled in a non-academic degree course;
  • Not exceed, with the conclusion of this scholarship contract, an accumulated period of 2 (two) years, consecutive or interspersed, if enrolled in a non-academic degree course, or of 4 (four) years if enrolled in a Doctorate;
  • Experience in developing tools capable of automatically generating data translators from schemas with semantic annotations.
  • Ability to develop and apply ontologies. Experience with ontology editors, namely Protégé.
  • Experience with semantic reasoning tools, namely Pellet Reasoner.
  • Programming experience using the Java Language.
  • Experience in Web applications, Web services, and microservices development.
  • Experience in using the Spring Boot framework.
  • Knowledge and experience with XML and JSON data formats.
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken (Mandatory).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidates who have obtained the degree abroad must have the degree recognized in Portugal, pursuant to Decree-Law No. 66/2018 of August 16th .

    Work plan: The candidate will develop research work performing the following tasks with the following objectives:

    Contribute to the development of a tool that supports data interoperability through automatic translator generation. Analyze data models and identify new functionalities and implement them in the existing tool to support interoperability between data models. Contribute to the project deliverables and the publication of scientific articles.

     

    Applicable legislation and regulations: Statute of the Scientific Research Grantee, approved by Law No. 40/2004 of August 18, amended and republished by Decree-Law No. 202/2012, of August 27 and amended by Decree-Law No. 233/2012 of 29 October, Law No. 12/2013 of January 29 and Decree-Law No. 123/2019 of August 28.

    Is subsidiarily applicable the Regulation of UNINOVA Research Grants, approved by deliberation of the Board of Directors of the FCT-Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, in the meeting of March 2 of 2022.

    Workplace: Thework will be carried out at UNINOVA's facilities, in other facilities located at the FCT/NOVA Campus and/or in other facilities that may be necessary for its execution, under the scientific guidance of Prof. Filipe Moutinho.UNINOVA will be the contracting entity.

    Duration of the grant: The grant shall last for 6 months, possibly renewable within the duration of the project, provided that it does not exceed the period referred to in point (b) of the admission requirements and is scheduled to start in July 2024.

    Benefits

    Monthly maintenance allowance amount: The amount of the scholarship corresponds to a minimum value of € 1259,64. according to the table of values of the scholarships awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in the country (  https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_atualizacao-2024.pdf ).

    The grantee also benefits from personal accident insurance during the period of granting the scholarship and may be reimbursed for voluntary social insurance equivalent to the 1st tier.

    The scholarship will be paid monthly on the last business day of each month by bank transfer.


    Eligibility criteria

    Selection methods: The selection methods to use will be as follows:

    The admitted applications will be evaluated considering the quality, timeliness, and relevance of the scientific path and curriculum of each candidate and their adequacy to the proposed work plan. The classification is expressed on a numerical scale from 0 to 20 points.

    Candidates are evaluated in two phases:

    •          First phase: Curriculum Analysis – The curriculum of the candidate will be qualitatively analyzed concerning its content and relevance for the tasks to be performed, namely: experience and knowledge of the techniques indicated in the candidate's profile (50%); capacity to develop technological solutions in the technical areas mentioned in this call notice (50%).

    •          Second stage: Interview – The jury will select for the interview the 3 candidates who obtained, in the first phase, the highest ranking, with a minimum of 15 points, or the number of candidates, up to 3, who obtained in the first phase a minimum score of 15 points. The interview can be conducted remotely.

  • The Interview can be considered not required in case there is only one eligible candidate having scored a minimum of 15 points in the first phase (Curriculum Analysis).

    The final classification will have a 60% weight from the first phase (Curriculum Analysis) and a 40% weight from the second phase (Interview). In case no Interview is considered required, the final classification is the classification of the first phase (Curriculum Analysis).

    The jury shall deliberate through a roll-call vote based on the selection criteria. In the event of a tie, the decision will be the responsibility of the chairman of the jury.


    Selection process

    Form of advertising/notification of results: Both admitted and excluded candidates list with the final classification shall be published on the UNINOVA website (https://www.uninova.pt/ )  and all candidates will be notified by email.

    Preliminary Hearing and Deadline for Decision: After communicating the provisional list of the results of the evaluation, candidates have a period of 10 working days to express their opinion at a prior hearing of interested parties, pursuant to Articles 121 and following of the Code of Administrative Procedure.

    The final decision will be rendered after the analysis of the statements presented during the preliminary hearing of interested parties. A complaint may be filed against the final decision within 15 working days, or, alternatively, an appeal may be filed within 30 working days, both counting from the respective notification.
