Offer Description
The Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon (ICS-ULisboa) opens a call for applications for 1 (one) Research Grant for a Master's student, within the scope of the research project “INSPIRE Intersectional Spaces of Participation: Inclusive, Resilient, Embedded”, funded by the European Commission, coordinated by Dr Roberto Falanga, from the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon.

Skills/Qualifications
Under the coordination of the project PI, the grantee will fulfil the following functions: a) literature review on creative and inclusive approaches to civic participation for intersectional equality objectives; b) analysis of inclusive participatory processes in Portugal; c) monitoring the implementation of an inclusive participation pilot project in Lisbon; d) scientific production related to the themes covered by the project; e) organisation of dissemination activities with diverse audiences.
Specific Requirements
Candidates must have as mandatory requirements:
a) Enrolment in a Master's programme in the field of Urban Studies or related areas or Declaration of Commitment to enrol in a Master's programme in the field of Urban Studies or related areas.
Candidates should have as preferential requirements:
a) Written and spoken proficiency in English;
b) Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies;
c) Interest in the field of participatory and deliberative democracy studies;
d) Interest in the field of social inclusion studies through creative approaches.

Research Grants Regulation of the University of Lisbon, approved by Order no. º 6238/2020 published in Diário da República, 2nd series, no. 113, of 12 June, amended by Order no. 8061/2022, published in Diário da República, 2nd series, no. 126, of 1 July, and, alternatively the Research Grants Regulation of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. (FCT, I.P.), Regulation no. 950/2019, Diário da República, 2nd series, no. 241, of 16 December.
Workplace: Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon.
Scientific supervision: The grantee's guidance will be provided by Dr. Roberto Falanga, the project's coordinator.
Duration of the scholarship: The scholarship will have a duration of 12 months, possibly renewable until the end of the project in accordance with the limits established in Article 5(4) of the Research Grants Regulation of the University of Lisbon.
Benefits:
The monthly maintenance allowance is €990.98 (nine hundred and ninety euros and ninety-eight cents), paid monthly by bank transfer.
The grant holder to be hired may exercise his/her right to social security by joining the voluntary social insurance scheme, under the terms provided for in the Research Grant Holder Statute, with ICS-ULisboa assuming the costs resulting from the contributions provided for in that Statute.

Selection methods and their valuation:
The applicable selection method will be a curriculum evaluation.
The selection of the candidates will be made according to the terms of reference expressed in number 2 of this announcement:
a) Curriculum evaluation, taking into account the objectives of the project and the specific nature of the research work to be carried out, valued from 1 to 10 points (50%);
b) Proven experience, considering the specific tasks to be carried out in the project, valued from 1 to 10 points (30%);
c) Letter of Motivation, referred to in point 13.2 c), valued from 1 to 10 points (10%);
d) Other factors considered relevant, namely publications and participation in specialised congresses and involvement in civil society activities considered relevant to the project, valued from 1 to 10 points (10%).
Composition of the Selection Board: Dr Roberto Falanga (President), Dr Edalina Sanches (1st Effective Member, who will replace the President in her absence) and Dr Lea Heyne (2nd Effective Member).
Form of publicity/notification of results: All candidates will be notified of the final result of the evaluation, sent to the e-mail address used to send the respective application, and/or by post, to the address indicated in the attached Personal Data Form, by means of a ranked list, in descending order of the final evaluation obtained. Candidates may exercise their right to a prior written hearing within ten working days of the notification. To this end, candidates may request that the minutes be sent by email or consult the procedural documents in person at the Office during office hours.
Selection process
Formalization and processing of applications:

Documentation to be submitted
Applications must be accompanied, under penalty of exclusion, by the following documents, and no document that must be submitted at the time of application may be submitted after the deadline for submission:
a) Personal data form and Declaration of Consent for Communication of Results via e-mail (see attached form);
b) Detailed and updated Curriculum Vitae;
c) Letter of Motivation justifying the interest in the research themes to be developed and the skills with which you think you can contribute to the project;
d) Proof of enrolment in a Master's programme in the field of Urban Studies or related areas or Declaration of Commitment to enrol in a Master's programme in the field of Urban Studies or related areas (see attached form), in accordance with point 2.1 a) of this Notice.
The submission of a master's degree enrolment is a mandatory condition for signing the contract.
