Offer Description

A Call is open for applications for one research grant to CEOS.PP - Center of Organizational and Social Studies of Polytechnic of Porto-, at Porto Accounting and Business School. The grant is funded under the R&D Units’ Multi-year Funding Programme 2020-2023 (project No. UIDB/05422/2020) awarded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) to CEOS-PP, R&D Unit no no 5422. General Requirements:

1.1. to hold a Master's Degree in one of the above fields.

1.2. If the applicants are following a non-graduating programme:

  • to be enrolled, upon signature of the grant contract, in a non-graduating programme offered by a Higher education Institution, in cooperarion with one or more R&D units (cf. programmes refered to by line e) from no 3 of Article 4th in the DL nº 74/2006, March 24 , in its last redaction);
  • Not to exceed, with the conclusion of the scholarship contract, an accumulated period of two years in this type of scholarship, consecutive or interpolated.
  • 1.3. If  the applicants are master students, they should be enrolled, on the date of contracting the scholarship, in a master's degree.

    1.4. If  the applicants are doctoral students: they should have a master’s degree and be enrolled, on the date of contracting the scholarship, in a doctoral degree.


    Specific Requirements

    The monthly amount of the grant corresponds to 1 199,64 euros (one thousand one hundred and ninety-nine euros and sixty-four cents), according to FCT table in force (https://www-.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_2023.pdf )https://dre.pt/home/-/dre/135170213/details/maximized , and is paid according to the Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação do P.PORTO (P.PORTO Research Grant Regulations) , and the Request for Authorization of Expenditure (PAD) no ISCAP -6568. To the scholarship amount is added the payment of the Voluntary Social Insurance (SSV), in the amount of €142.21, as provided for in paragraphs 4 and 5 of Article 10 of the Research Fellowship Statute.

    Pursuant to article 19 of the P.PORTO Research Grants Regulations, CEOS.PP is also charged with the payment of any travel, accommodation and food subsidies for travel within the country, abroad and abroad, authorized or determined by CEOS.PP and related to the aforementioned work plan. Payments for these charges are made under the conditions laid down in the regime practiced by ISCAP/P.PORTO, namely in the per diem allowance system applicable to public servants, with ISCAP/P.PORTO being responsible for assessing the respective legality.


    Eligibility criteria

    Selection process

    The selection methods to be used are:

  • Curricular evaluation, with a weighting of 50%;
  • Interview, with a weighting of 50%, which will be applied to the first six candidates in the Curricular Evaluation, in descending order of ranking.
  • The respective evaluation parameters are:

  • Curriculum Assessment:
    • Final average grade of the degree required (between 10 and 12 values – 2 points; between 13 and 15 values –4 points; between 16 and 18 – 6 points; and between 19 and 20 values – 10 points);
    • Training actions supplementary to the diploma, (up to 12h – 1 points; between 13h and 48h – 2 points; between 49h and 100h – 3 points; and more than 100h – 5 points).
    • Scientific presentations and publications (2 points for each article in a SCOPUS or WoS indexed journal; 1 point for each article in a SCOPUS or WoS indexed conference; ½ point for each article in a non-indexed SCOPUS or WoS publication - to a maximum of 5 points).
  • Interview:
    • Aims to evaluate: EPA) professional/academic experience; AC) behavioral aspects, namely those related to motivation and availability to perform duties, interpersonal relationships, oral communication and problem-solving skills; GP) knowledge and experience in project management; AD) knowledge and experience in organizing, processing and analyzing data; ICT) mastery in the use of information and communication technologies, namely in information search, retrieval and management.
    • This parameter is evaluated according to the classification levels of High, Good, Satisfactory, Poor, and Insufficient, to which correspond, respectively, the classifications of 20, 16, 12, 8, and 4.
    • The final result (RF) of the interview is obtained by the simple arithmetic mean of the scores of the elements to be evaluated:
      • RF of Interview = (EPA+AC+GP+AD+TIC) /5, where:
  • -EPA - professional/academic experience;

    - AC - behavioral aspects;

    - GP - project management

    - AD - data organization, processing and analysis;

    - ICT - information and communication technologies.

    Candidates are excluded on the following grounds:

  • For not having the general and specific requirements required in point 2;
  • Candidates who score less than 9,5 in the Interview;
  • Failure to attend the Interview.
  • After analyzing the applications and evaluating the candidates according to the components in question, the candidates will be ranked in descending order of scores. In case of equality the tie-breaker will be based on the best ranking, in the following order of presentation:

  • Interview;
  • Curriculum Assessment.
  • If the tie still remains, the Jury will hold a vote in which all members of the Jury will vote.


    Additional comments

    The application is open for 10 working days after the date of publication.

The form must be submitted by the deadline, together with the following mandatory documents:

  • Curriculum vitae, listing the admission requirements;
  • Qualification certificate of the bachelor's and master's degree with, at least, the final average/classification and the date of completion; if the degree  was (were) awarded by a foreign higher education institution, the academic degree recognition record(s) is (are) also required, or alternatively declaration of honor from the applicants stating that they already obtained the recognition of the foreign degree equivalent to the master's degree. The recordecord(s) of recognition of the academic degree(s) must be submitted by the date of contracting the scholarship;
  • Proof of enrollment in a doctoral degree or in a non-graduating programme {programmes referred to in paragraph e) of paragraph 3 of article 4 of Decree-Law no. 74/2006, of March 24 , in its current wording}, or declaration of honor of the candidate in which they undertake to register by the scholarship contracting date, considering that the granting of the scholarship is conditional on the existence of registration valid for a maximum period of six months from the date of communication of approval in the context of scientific evaluation, under the terms of paragraph 2 of article 9 of the P.PORTO Research Grants Regulation ;
  • Motivation Letter;
  • Declaration, under oath, stating that:
  • knows P.PORTO Research Grants Regulations , and undertakes to comply with them;
  • does not exceed, with the conclusion of the scholarship contract in question, an accumulated period of two years in this type of scholarship, followed or interrupted, if the applicant is enrolled in a non-graduating programme.
  • If the documents indicated in b) are not available, then the respective curriculum information is not taken into account when applying the Curriculum Assessment selection method. Failure to present the documents proving the admission requirements, namely those indicated in paragraphs c) and e), will be grounds for exclusion.

    Applications sent via email or any other electronic means other than the one specified will not be accepted.

     

    DURATION AND MODALITY

    6-month scholarship contract, on an exclusive basis (according to the P.PORTO Research Grant Regulations ), renewable for equal periods up to the maximum limit provided for in Article 6(4) of the P.PORTO Research Grant Regulations, expected to start on February 19, 2024.
