Offer Description
Work Plan: The aim of the work is the production of PHA at pilot scale by mixed microbial cultures.
Fellowship duration: The fellowship will last for 6 months, starting in April 2024. The fellowship contract may eventually be renewed within the term of the project.
Application deadline and form of application submission: The call is open from the March 27 th to the Abril 10th 2024.
Documentation to be provided at the time of application: Applications must be formalized by sending the following documents in a single PDF file:
i) Motivation letter;
ii) Detailed Curriculum Vitae;
iii) Certificate of academic degrees and qualifications* (at application stage a non-official document may be presented, which in case of selection will be replaced by the official document).
iv) The selected candidate should be enrolled in a PhD or in a Training Course, having only to prove enrollment in the contracting phase.
* In case of foreign academic degrees, and to guarantee the application of the principle of equal treatment to applicants with national and foreign academic degrees, it is mandatory to submit the recognition of such degrees and the conversion of the respective final grade to the Portuguese grading scale.
** In the case of candidates enrolled in a non-degree course, the scholarship may have a maximum duration of one year.

Benefits
Monthly maintenance allowance amount: The amount of the scholarship corresponds to €1.259,64, having as reference the table of values of the scholarships awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in Portugal, with payment made monthly by bank transfer.

Selection process
Selection criteria:
The selection methods to be used and the respective weighting will be as follows:
a. Curricular assessment (grade from 1 to 20) weighting 50%;
b. Experience in the research area (score from 1 to 20) weighting 50%.
The jury may resort to conducting selection interviews with the three best-ranked candidates.
In the event that the jury conducts interviews, the selection methods change, becoming the following:
a. Curricular assessment and experience in the research area (score from 1 to 20) weighting 50%;
b. Interview (score from 1 to 20) weighting 50%.
All applications will be evaluated on a scale from 0 to 20 values. Candidates who do not obtain a minimum grade of 15, as a result of the jury's evaluation according to the selection criteria, will not be hired.

Composition of the Selection Jury: Dr. Nídia Lourenço (Effective Member), Prof. Maria A. Reis (Effective Member), Dr. Mariana Matos (Effective Member), Dr. Joana Fradinho and Dr. Bárbara Almeida (Substitute Members).
Form of advertising/notification of results: The evaluation results proposed by the juri will be notified, up to 90 days after the deadline for the submission of applications, by email, of the results proposed by the jury, with access to the minutes and the final ranking list. After notification, candidates will have 10 working days to comment on the draft decision (prior hearing of interested parties, under the terms of the Code of Administrative Procedure). The final decision will be taken after the expiry of the prior hearing period, again notified to all candidates by e-mail. Of this final decision the candidates can file a complaint within 15 working days (to the e-mail address used for the notification), or an hierarchical appeal, within 30 working days, addressed to NOVA.ID.FCT's Board through the address [email protected] .
Drafts: The drafts of: i) fellowship contract, ii) final report to be presented by the fellowship holder, iii) final report to be presented by the scientific advisor, and; iv) declaration on honor, can all be found on NOVA.id.FCT website.
