1 (one) Research Grant (BI) for Graduates within the Program Contract under the multi-year funding of R&D Units, with the Ref. UIDB/04042/2020, funded by national funds through FCT/MCTES, and in compliance with the provisions of article 6 and following of the FCT Research Grants Regulation, Regulation no. 950/2019, published in the Official Gazette, 2nd Series, no. 241, of December 16, amended by Regulation no. 643/2021, published in the Official Gazette, 2nd Series, no. 135, of July 14, under the following conditions:

Skills/Qualifications

Being a MA student, or a graduate student enrolled in a course that does not confer an academic degree included in the educational project of a higher education institution.

Degree with a final grade of 15 (out of 20)

Preferably an MA student in Graphic Design or a related area.

The ideal candidate for the grant in question must present a multidisciplinary profile, which combines skills in graphic design, communication, and management of cultural and artistic projects. Below are the qualifications and skills essential for success in this role:

 

Technical Skills:

  • Graphic Design: Advanced mastery of design software (Adobe-Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) for creating posters, invitations, and catalogs that effectively promote exhibitions, workshops, and artistic residencies.
  • Web Development: Ability to create and manage websites, preferably with knowledge on platforms such as Wix, for the promotion and dissemination of the project online.
  • Visual Communication: Ability to design attractive visual materials and effectively communicate project messages to the target audience.

 

Organisational Competences:

  • Management and Organization: Ability to support the group’s secretariat and logistics, including the organization of documents, correspondence, and the coordination of activities and events.
  • Communication and Dissemination: Ability to manage internal communications between project and external members for the dissemination of events, including skills in writing and digital communication.

 

Personal Skills:

  • Proactivity: Initiative to anticipate needs and solve problems independently.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and different types of tasks and projects.
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy and precision in the execution of all tasks, ensuring the high quality of the materials produced.

 

Training and Experience:

  • Training in Graphic Design, or related areas.
  • Relevant prior experience in graphic design, communication, or cultural/artistic project management is preferable.
  • Portfolio that demonstrates previous experience with similar projects will be valued.

 

This profile is intended for a candidate who, not only has the necessary technical skills for the production of promotional materials and logistical support, but also has a strong organizational and communication capacity, essential for the effective promotion of cultural and artistic events. The ability to work autonomously, with a high degree of responsibility and dedication, is fundamental. 


Specific Requirements
  • Work experience the areas of Graphic Design and cultural/artistic communication and management projects.
  • Experience in developing and managing websites, as well as the creation of promotional visual materials such as posters, invitations, and catalogs.
  • Capacity for effective communication, both internally between project members and externally for the dissemination of events, as well as organizational skills for logistical and secretarial support.

    Eligibility criteria

    Candidates must meet the eligibility conditions provided for in article 9 of the FCT I.P. Research Grants Regulation (Regulation no. 950/2019, published in the Official Gazette, 2nd Series, no. 241, of December 16, amended by Regulation no. 643/2021, published in the Official Gazette, 2nd Series, no. 135, of July 14).

    Graduates enrolled in a master's degree or courses not leading to an academic degree can only be selected if, with this contract, they do not exceed an accumulated period of two years in this type of grant, consecutive or interpolated - including the grant in question and potential including renewals.

    Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries need to be registered by a Portuguese institution, in accordance with Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of August 16, and Ordinance no. 33/2019, of January 25. Presentation of the certificate is mandatory for contract signing.


    Selection process

    Candidates will be selected through a curriculum evaluation, considering the following parameters:

    Criterion a) - curriculum vitae (10%)
    Criterion b) - Experience in projects in the area of graphic design and visual communication in cultural and artistic contexts: (50%)

    Critério c) – Average in degree courses with relevance for graphic design, as well as for visual communication and management of cultural and artistic projects: (20%) 

    Criterion d) – highly proficient in spoken and written English (10%)

    Critério e) – motivation letter (10%)

    The jury may, if deemed necessary, call the approved candidates for an interview. In this case, the interview will weigh a maximum of 30%, to be added to the score obtained in the first selection phase, which corresponds to 70%.

  • Motivation letter;
  • Declaration of prior consent to the use of electronic means;
  • Other relevant supporting documents (e.g., level of spoken and written English).
  • In the case of academic degrees obtained from foreign higher education institutions, submission of Degree and Diploma Recognition is mandatory, in accordance with Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of August 16, or, in the absence of recognition at the time of application, a declaration under an honor commitment that recognition will be made before the contracting of the Grant in case the candidate is selected.
