The purpose of this Bursary is to assist women students who have been taking their first undergraduate degree part-time and will complete their current course of study either part-time or full-time within the current academic year.
The Bursary is funded from a variety of sources, including a grant from the Massey University Alumni Association and the Status of University Women's Committee in 1993 to mark the centenary of Women's Suffrage.
Tenure and Value
One bursary, tenable at any of the campuses of Massey University, shall be offered annually. The value of the Scholarship shall be up to a total value of $1,500 with the amount determined each year from the interest earned on the capital fund.
Applicants must be:
*New Zealand citizens or permanent residents;
*enrolled in their first undergraduate degree;
*have been enrolled in part-time study at a tertiary institution (part-time as defined by that institution);
*will complete their undergraduate degree either part-time or full-time in the year of application.
NOTE: 15 credits = 12.5 points.
Applicants shall be assessed principally on academic achievement, but career or other relevant experience may be taken into account. Account may also be taken of the time spent studying part-time and personal circumstances.
Applications will be assessed by a Selection Committee including representatives from the University Scholarships Committee, a representative from Ethics & Equity, and a representative from the New Zealand Centre for Women and Leadership. The committee must include at least one woman.
Responsibility for the Award
The bursary shall be awarded annually by the University Scholarships Committee on the recommendation of the Selection Committee.
The bursary will be paid in one instalment in May.
The University reserves the right not to make an award in any given year.
At the discretion of the University all, or part, of the annual interest may be reinvested to maintain the value of the capital funds.
Applications close 15 April each year.

Applications will NOT be accepted more than 3 months in advance of the closing date.
