These scholarships are offered annually by Turners and Growers to assist students of high academic calibre to undertake a degree that will provide them with the education and training to support the sustainable development of the New Zealand horticultural industry.
1.The Scholarships shall be known as the Turners and Growers Undergraduate Scholarships.
2.The Scholarships shall be open to candidates who have enrolled at the Palmerston North Campus of Massey University for a full-time three-year course of study in horticulture.
3.Scholarships shall be awarded in each year to the value of $3500 each, with the number available being subject to funding available.
4.The Scholarship shall be awarded by the Council of Massey University on the recommendation of a Selection Committee that shall comprise at least one representative from each of Turners and Growers, the Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee and the horticulture/horticultural science teaching staff at Massey University.
5.The criteria for the award shall be:
(i)Academic merit;
(ii)Evidence of current and/or planned activity to support the development of the NZ horticultural industry;
(iii)Agreement to maintain liaison with an appointed mentor from within Turners and Growers for the duration of the study;
(iv)Agreement that Turners and Growers will be able to publicise the student's name, photograph and biographical details in company related publications;
(v)Agreement that Massey University will recognise Turners and Growers in any publicity or publications that result from activities associated with this scholarship.
6.The Scholarship is tenable with any other scholarship or bursary provided that the rules of the others allow it.
7.The scholarship may be terminated at any time if conduct or progress of the recipient has been unsatisfactory, or it the recipient's programme of study becomes no longer relevant to the horticulture industry. Recipients need to re-apply for the scholarship each year.
8.Applications should be made on Form ASSC.2 which is available from Massey Contact, 0800 627 739, email: Contact@massey.ac.nz or can be downloaded from the click box at the bottom of this page. Applications close with the Scholarships Office, Graduate Research School on 10 March in the year in which the award is to be made.
All applications are acknowledged by email.
Applications will NOT be accepted more than 3 months in advance of the closing date.


Application cannot be accepted before 10/12/2012.
